October 8, 2002 GENEVA, N.Y.Hobart College quarterback Craig Swanson (Jamestown/Jamestown, N.Y.) was named the Rochester Area College Athletics (RACA) Male Athlete of the Week. The junior threw for a season-high 296 yards and a Hobart record matching three touchdowns, in the Statesmen's 44-14 blowout over St. Lawrence. Posting a 3-0 record so far in 2002, Hobart is off to its best start since 1977. Swanson was able to find open receivers all afternoon, completing 21-29 passes, 72.4 percent, which was the highest completion percentage by a Hobart quarterback in at least five years. He has amassed 563 yards on 47 completions in the first three games for a 187.7 per game average. His 51-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Archer(Randolph/Randolph, N.Y.) is his longest so far in 2002. Swanson has had a hand in half of Hobarts touchdowns this season, throwing for five and rushing for one other. The Statesmen return to the gridiron on Oct. 12, at UCAA rival Rochester with kickoff slated for 2 p.m. |
