October 9, 2002 GENEVA, N.Y.Hobart College quarterback Craig Swanson (Jamestown/Jamestown, N.Y.) was named the Offensive Player of the Week by both the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association and the Eastern College Athletic Conference, Northwest. The junior led the Statesmen to a 44-14 victory over league rival St. Lawrence on Saturday. Swanson threw for a season-high 296 yards and a Hobart record matching three touchdowns. He completed 21-of-29 passes, 72.4 percent the highest completion percentage by a Hobart QB in over five years. His touchdown passes covered 5, 25, and 51 yards. Despite a pair of interceptions (neither of which resulted in a St. Lawrence score), Swanson posted his highest single game pass efficiency rating, 178.5. Through three games, Swanson boasts a pass efficiency rating of 123.85, having completed 47-of-83 passes (56.6 percent) for 563 yards and five touchdowns. For his career, hes completed 166-of-328 passes for 2,181 yards and 16 touchdowns. The Statesmen have started 3-0 for the first time since 1977. They return to action at 2 p.m., on Oct. 12, at the University of Rochester. The UCAA match up will be the 95th meeting in the 110-year-old series.m. |
