Gorton leads Hobart golfers at Clifton Springs

GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart first-year George Gorton (Johnson City/Endwell, N.Y.) led the Hobart Orange team to a second place finish in the annual Hobart Invitational at the par 71 Clifton Springs Country Club. Senior John Buccos (Fonda, N.Y.) won individual medalist honors with a two-over 73 to lead Potsdam to the team title, one stroke ahead of Gorton.
Gorton earned a second place finish, winning the tie-breaker with senior Andy Zachowicz (St. Francis/Buffalo, N.Y.) of Medaille College, who also shot a 74.
Hobart senior Drew Slocum (University School/Milwaukee, Wis.) and junior Mike Gonzalez (HAC/Webster, N.Y.) also earned a spot in the top-10, carding identical 79s to tie for ninth place.
The Hobart Golf team is back in action on Oct. 1-2, when the Statesmen tee it up in the Liberty League Championships at the Saratoga Springs State Park Golf Course.
