George Gorton

GENEVA, N.Y.—For the third time this season, Hobart College first-year George Gorton (Johnson City/Endwell, N.Y.) was named the Liberty League Golf Rookie of the Week.

Gorton was the top Hobart finisher in the Hamilton-Shenendoah Invitational. He finished tied for 39th overall in the 93-golfer field, carding a five over 77 on Saturday and an 85 on Sunday for a two-round score of 162.

Gorton leads Hobart in scoring this season, carding an average round of 75.56 through nine rounds.

The Statesmen close out the fall portion of their schedule Oct. 15-16 at the NYU Invitational. Hobart finished third in that event in 2004.
