Kilduff named Rookie of the Year
October 3 , 2005
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—Hobart College first-year Brian Kilduff (Morristown-Beard School/Summit, N.J), a member of the All-Liberty League first-team, was named the Liberty League Rookie of the Year thanks to his third place finish at the conference championships over the weekend.
Hobart finished third in the six-team tournament, recording its best finish in at least seven years.
The top four golfers earn first-team recognition, while the next six comprise the second-team.
Senior captain Drew Slocum (University School/Milwaukee, Wis.) joined Kilduff on the all-conference first team by earning a tie for third. Over the two days of competition at the par-72 Saratoga State Park Course, Kilduff and Slocum carded identical scores of 144, shooting a 74 on Oct. 1 and a 70 on the following day. Their identical two-under rounds on the final day were tied for the fourth-best round of the tournament.
First-year George Gorton (Johnston City/Endwell, N.Y.), who finished two over par and tied for seventh, garnered All-Liberty League second team praise.
The Statesmen will return to action on Oct. 8 as they travel to Hamilton College for the Hamilton Invitational. The event will tee-off at noon.
