GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College golf team finished second in the 10-team Oswego State Invitational at the par-71 Oswego Country Club. The host Lakers garnered top honors by recording a score of 298, while the Statesmen registered a score of 308 to edge out Delphi by a stroke.

First-year George Gorton (Johnston City/Endwell, N.Y.) led the Statesmen with a fifth place finish, shooting a 75. Junior Mike Gonzalez (Harley-Allendale-Columbia/Webster, N.Y.) carded a 76 to earn a tie for 10th place.

The Statesmen will return to action on Sept. 24 when they host the annual Hobart Invitational. The event will tee-off at 1 p.m. at the Clifton Springs Country Club.
