SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.--The Hobart golf team opened its season with a fourth place finish in the 25th annual Skidmore Invitational. The two-day event was hosted by the par-72 Saratoga State Park Golf Gourse.

Junior Mike Gonzalez (Harley-Allendale-Columbia/Webster, N.Y.) led the charge for the Statesmen, firing twin 73s to tie for sixth place overall. Senior Drew Slocum (University School/Milwaukee, Wis.) careded the second lowest Day 1 score, a two-under 70, but faded on the second day into an 11th place tie with a total score of 149. First-year George Gorton (Johnson City/Endwell, N.Y.) also finished in the top 20, tying for 16th place with a 151.

Hobart is back in action on Sept. 18, when the Statesmen travel to Pennsylvania for the Pitt-Bradford Invitational.
