Slocum defends title at Elmira Invitational

April 29 , 2005

ELMIRA, N.Y.—Hobart junior golfer Drew Slocum (University School/Milwaukee, Wis.) successfully defended his title in the Elmira Spring Invitational at the Elmira Country Club today. SUNY Delhi took top team honors with a score of 315, while the Statesmen finished fifth in the nine-team field with a score of 334.

Slocum fired a one-under 71 to post a one-stroke victory over Keuka’s Matt Ziemann. In 2004, Slocum won the Elmira Spring Invitational on the fourth playoff hole, after carding a 72 through 18 holes.

Playing in their final match for the purple and orange, seniors Ryan Malet (Walter Johnson/Rockville, Md.), Ryan Wilson (Brooks School/Topsfield, Mass.), and Matt Coté (Trinity Pawling School/Montreal, Quebec) shot 86, 88, and 89, respectively
