April 21, 2003 ELMIRA, N.Y.The Hobart College golf team turned in a strong performance at the Elmira Invitational, finishing second of five teams behind SUNY Delhi. The Statesmen scored 341 points to edge out Elmira for the runner-up spot. Sophomore Matt Coté (Trinity-Pawling/Kirkland, Quebec) was the Statesmens top finisher in fifth place, carding a seven-over 79. Junior Kyle Hannes (Gilmour Academy/Kenosha, Wis.) and first-year Drew Slocum (University School of Milwaukee/Milwaukee, Wis.) followed in a tie for eighth place, shooting rounds of 86. First-year Sean Hotchkiss (Falmouth/Falmouth, Maine) and sophomore Ryan Wilson (Brooks School/Topsfield, Mass.) rounded out the group of five with rounds of 90. The Statesmen return to the links on April 30, at the Susquehanna Invitational. Hobart will tee off at noon. |
