September 9, 2003 SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.The Hobart College golf team finished in ninth place of 11 teams today in the Skidmore Invitational at the McGregor Links Country Club with a team score of 340. The Skidmore White took the top three individual spots to win the team title with a low score of 294, while St. Lawrence shot a combined 315 to edge out Hamilton by seven strokes for second place. Junior Ryan Malet (Walter Johnson/Rockville, Md.) and sophomore Drew Slocum (University School of Milwaukee/Milwaukee, Wis.) both shot a 10-over 82 to tie 24th in the 56-competitor event. Sophomore Mark Hobin (Ridge/Basking Ridge, N.J.) was next in the clubhouse for the Statesmen carding a round of 87. Juniors Ryan Wilson (Brooks School/Topsfield, Mass.) and Matt Coté (Trinity-Pawling/Kirkland, Quebec) rounded out the Hobart contingent. The Statesmen return to the links again on Sept. 20, in the Pitt-Bradford Invitational. |
