Slocum medals in Hobart Invitational

October 4, 2003

CLIFTON SPRINGS, N.Y.--Despite the rains and cold temperatures, Hobart hosted its annual golf invitational this afternoon at the Clifton Springs Country Club. Sophomore Drew Slocum (University School/Milwaukee, Wis.) was the top Statesman in the event turning in a third place showing, five strokes off the lead.

St. John Fisher's Zach Fuller took home top honors, firing a one-over 72, while Potsdam's Max Pelifian placed second four strokes back. The Cardinals won the team scoring, carding a 316, while the Bears trailed by two strokes in second place. The Hobart "Purple" team, led by Slocum, was third in the seven-team field.

Sophomore Matt Johannessen (Kent School/Litchfield, Conn.) was the No. 2 Statesman in the clubhouse, recording a 79 and tying for fourth place. Junior Matt Coté (Trinity Pawling School/Montreal, Quebec) also finished in the top 10, tying for ninth with an 81.

The Hobart golf team is back in action on Oct. 7, when the Statesmen travel to the Mike Bello Invitational at the Drumlines Country Club near Syracuse.
