April 18 , 2005
GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College ice hockey team placed seven players on the 2005 ECAC West All-Academic Team announced earlier today by ECAC Commissioner Phil Buttafuocco.
To earn a place on the All-Academic squad, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year at his current institution, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.00, and have competed in at least one-half of his team’s contests during the 2004-05 season.
Representing Hobart for the second consecutive year are seniors Craig Levey (Mississauga, Ontario) and Stephen Mitacek (Wantagh, N.Y.) and juniors Will Brame (West Hartford, Conn.), Lee Carrier (Ballston Lake, N.Y.), and Colby McVey (Chicago, Ill.), while senior Jeff Bostic (Whitesboro, N.Y.) and sophomore Mike Manos (North Andover, Mass.) collected the honor for the first time.
The Statesmen finished the year 14-6-4, establishing a high-water mark with a .667 winning percentage. Ranked among the top-15 teams in the nation throughout much of the season, Hobart climbed as high as 11th in the polls after toppling then No. 1 and eventual conference champion Manhattanville, 5-2 at The Cooler.
