Bradley leads Hobart past Curry, 4-1

MITLON, MASS.—Hobart College junior forward Conor Bradley (West Hartford, Conn.) paced the offense with a pair of goals as the eighth-ranked Statesmen downed Curry College 4-1 this afternoon in non-conference action.

The first period was an evenly played affair, with both teams netting a goal and firing 11 shots on net. The Colonels (8-8-0) struck first just 57 seconds into the contest, when Steve Kelleher registered his seven goal of the season. Hobart (12-3-0) quickly added the equalizer at the 5:48 mark on the power play, when Bradley drilled home a feed from junior forwards Mike McCarthy (Medfield, Mass.) and Jonathan Swift (Andover, Mass.) to take enter the first intermission tied at 1. Bradley has scored eight of his 12 goals this season with a man advantage.

The Statesmen took their first lead of the game, when senior defenseman Greg Gallagher (Framingham, Mass.) cashed in on the power play at the 3:48 mark of the second period. Senior forwards Colby McVey (Chicago, Ill.) and Will Brame (West Hartford, Conn.) both received assists on Gallagher’s third tally of the season. Just 38 seconds later, sophomore forward Shawn Houde (Manchester, N.H.) extended Hobart’s lead to 3-1 on an assist from senior defenseman Will Bodine (North Massapequa, N.Y.).

Bradley put the finishing touches on the Statesmen’s third consecutive win with an empty net goal with only 45 seconds remaining.

In between the pipes, Hobart first-year goaltender Keith Longo (Hopedale, Mass.) stopped 25 of 26 shots to earn his team-high eighth win of the season, while Lenny Mosca saved 40 Statesmen offerings.

Hobart won all facets of the match, connecting on 2 of 8 power play opportunities, while killing off all three Curry advantages. The Statesmen also outshot the Colonels 44-26.

Hobart returns to action at 7 p.m. on Jan. 20, when the Statesmen host No. 3 Manhattanville in an ECAC West showdown.
