BROCKPORT, N.Y.—Hobart College senior forward Will Brame (West Hartford, Conn.) netted two goals, including the game-winner, as the hockey team scored five unanswered goals to erase a three-goal deficit to collect its 10th victory of the season, downing SUNY Brockport 5-3 this evening.

Possessing the third best power play unit in the conference (20.6 percent), Hobart (10-3-0) capitalized on four opportunities with a man advantage to whittle away its early deficit and eventually take the lead for good.

Senior defenseman Will Bodine (North Massapequa, N.Y.) ignited the comeback with a power-play goal at the 7:02 mark of the second period, cutting the deficit to 3-1. First-year defenseman Ryan Alder (Piscataway, N.J.) registered the assist on Bodine’s first tally of the season. The Statesmen registered their second power-play goal of the period at the 18:15 mark as junior defenseman Michael Polsonetti (Lynn, Mass.) beat Golden Eagle goaltender Derek Spence to trim the deficit to one entering the final intermission.

Feeling the momentum shifting sides, Hobart cashed in on its first power play of the final period. Brame, who was playing in his second game back from an injury, netted the equalizer at the 3:30 mark. Senior defenseman Greg Gallagher (Framingham, Mass.) and Polsonetti assisted on Brame’s second goal of the season.

With momentum resting on the Statesmen’s shoulders and once again on a one man advantage, Brame completed the comeback with his second goal of the match at the 7:29 mark.

Senior forward Brian Keane (Sherborn, Mass.) rounded out the scoring at the 12:08 mark to secure the win.

Between the pipes, sophomore goaltender Dimitri Papaevagelou (Windham, N.H.) played the opening 21 minutes and 32 seconds, making three stops. First-year netminder Keith Longo (Hopedale, Mass.) stopped all 23 shots he faced in 38 minutes and eights seconds of relief action to pick up his seven win of the season. Spence finished the contest with 32 saves.

The Statesmen won the battle of special teams, converting on four of ten power play opportunities, while killing off five of seven Brockport advantages. Hobart also outshot the Golden Eagles 37-29.

No. 8 Hobart returns to action at 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 13, when the Statesmen complete a home-and-home series with Wentworth Institute of Technology. Earlier this season, Hobart blanked the Leopards 7-0 in Geneva.
