Houde collects ECAC West Rookie of the Week honors
February 15, 2005
GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College forward Shawn Houde (Manchester, N.H.) recently was named the ECAC West Men’s Hockey Rookie of the Week. This is Houde’s first weekly honor.
Houde helped lead Hobart to an important 8-5 victory over conference rival Elmira College with a pair of first period goals. He notched the Statesmen’s second goal of the game at the 2:42 mark and struck again four minutes later to put Hobart ahead 3-0 less than seven minutes into the game.
Scoring five points in his past four games, Houde leads all Statesmen rookies in scoring with 10 points (7-3).
Sitting one point behind Elmira for the final ECAC West Tournament playoff spot, Hobart must travel to Neumann (Feb. 19) and Elmira (Feb. 26) in its final two regular season games. A loss to the Knights would put Hobart in a must win situation in the season finale at Elmira. However, a win or tie at Neumann would mean the Statesmen can secure fourth place with win or a tie against the Soaring Eagles.
Hobart will go up against Neumann on Feb. 19, at Flyer’s Skate Zone in Vorhees, N.J. Faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
Hobart returns to action on Feb. 19, traveling to the Flyer’s Skate Zone in Vorhees, N.J. to play Neumann College at 7:30 p.m.
