Lavelle and Levey collect preseason honors
October 14 , 2004
GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College seniors Adam Lavelle (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Craig Levey (Mississauga, Ontario) were named preseason Division III All-US College Hockey Online honorable mentions. The Statesmen are the only ECAC West team to have more than one player selected to the teams.
Levey is coming off his most productive season as a Statesman, leading the team with 17 goals and 17 assists for 34 points last year. Selected as the 2003-04 ECAC West Co-Player of the Year, he ranks fifth on the career power-play goals list with 20, while his 48 career scores are ninth all-time.
A 2003-04 JOFA/ACHA second-team All-American, Lavelle holds nearly every Statesmen goalie record. Eclipsing the career saves mark last season, he finished the year with a 3.64 goals against average and an .882 save percentage, making 619 stops. An All-ECAC West first-team selection, Lavelle earned the ECAC West Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player award after he led the Statesmen to the tournament’s title, stopping a combined 56 shots in the two contests.
Hobart returns all but three players from the 2003-04 squad that captured the ECAC West regular season and tournament titles and finished with a program best record of 15-8-5. Sitting atop the conference’s preseason coaches’ poll, the Statesmen open the 2004-05 season on Oct. 29, against Fredonia at the Buffalo State Invitational. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7 p.m.
