BABSON PARK, Mass.—Hobart College first-year goalkeeper Keith Longo (Hopedale, Mass.) stopped all 23 shots he faced to break the Statesmen record for most consecutive shutout minutes in a 6-0 win over Williams in the semifinals of the Babson Invitational Tournament. He is just the second Statesman to post back-to-back shutouts.
Longo’s streak, which began in the latter stages of the Manhattanville game on Nov. 5, now spans 157 minutes and 1 second. Thomas Kelliher ’06 held the previous record for consecutive shutout minutes, blanking Hobart’s opposition for 143 minutes and 15 seconds spanning four games during the 2003-04 season.
Offensively, junior forward Conor Bradley (West Hartford, Conn.) led the way, scoring all three of his goals on the power play, including the game’s first goal midway through the first period. Senior Matthew Garman (Wexford, Pa.) scored his first goal of the season with just over two minutes remaining in the period to take a 2-0 advantage into the locker room.
Bradley lit the lamp early in the second period and once again early in the third. Senior Ed Poirier (Methuen, Mass.) and junior Mike McCarthy (Medfield, Mass.) also added goals for the Statesmen.
Hobart continued to shine on the penalty kill, stopping all six Ephs opportunities.
