GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College goaltender Keith Longo (Hopedale, Mass.) recently was named the Rochester Area College Athletics Male Athlete of the Week for his outstanding performance during the NCAA Division III Men’s Hockey quarterfinal game at Norwich University.
On March 11, Longo stopped a career-high 38 shots, including 18 in the second period, to backstop the Statesmen to the program’s first NCAA Tournament victory. Facing Norwich’s explosive offense (third in the nation, 5.21 gpg), the first-year held the Cadets four goals under their season average as Hobart advanced 3-1. Longo ranks fourth in the nation in save percentage (.932) and ninth in goals against average (2.04).
Hobart (20-7-0) returns to action at 12:30 p.m. on March 18, when the Statesmen face St. Norbert (24-4-2) in the national semifinals at First Arena in Elmira, N.Y. The championship game will begin at 2 p.m. on March 19 and air live on CSTV (Time Warner Cable of the Finger Lakes channel 232).
The Hobart-St. Norbert game will be broadcast live on WEOS-FM (89.7/90.3 in Geneva, 88.1 in Ithaca). Live statistics and streaming audio will be available via the Hobart Web site. |
