BABSON PARK, MASS.—Hobart College junior forward Conor Bradley (West Hartford, Conn.) registered two points, on a goal and an assist, and first-year netminder Keith Longo (Hopedale, Mass.) finished with a season-high 27 saves as the Statesmen defeated the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders, 5-1, in the championship game of the 2005 Babson Invitational Tournament. Bradley was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player for his six-point (4-2) weekend.
Hobart (6-2-0) took control of the game early, scoring three unanswered goals in the opening period. Bradley started the run with a goal off junior Mike McCarthy’s (Medfield, Mass.) rebound just 1:08 into the contest, and sophomore Shawn Houde (Manchester, N.H.) tacked on back-to-back power-play goals at 6:30 and 15:12 to make it 3-0 in favor of the Statesmen and to chase junior goaltender Joe Dovalina.
MSOE (5-3-0) got one goal back early in the second period to make it a 3-1 game heading into the second intermission.
In the third period, McCarthy and senior Colby McVey (Chicago, Ill.) netted insurance goals to put the finishing touches on Hobart’s fifth consecutive win.
Hobart returns to action at 7 p.m. on Dec. 2 when the Statesman host Neuman College at the Geneva Recreation Complex.
