GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College first-year defenseman Ryan Adler (Piscataway, N.J.) recently was named to the Jewish Sports Review Division III Men’s College Hockey All-America first-team.
One of the Statesmen’s top defensemen, Adler finished the season with six points on a goal and five assists in 25 games. He ranked second in assists and fourth in points amongst his classmates. On Feb. 4, Adler registered two points (1-1) to lift Hobart to a 4-2 victory at Lebanon Valley. Defensively, he was a crucial member of a stifling Statesmen defense, which posted a single-season record 2.61 goals per game. Hobart was an impressive 14-1 this season when limiting opponents to two goals or less.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Mark Taylor, the Statesmen completed the season with a 20-8-0 record, five more wins than any previous Hobart squad. For the second time in the past three years, the Statesmen earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament. The Statesmen upset perennial powerhouse Norwich University 3-1 to reach the national semifinals for the first time in the program’s history.
