Gallagher garners All-American praise

GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College senior defenseman Greg Gallagher (Rivers School/Framingham, Mass.) was named to the American Hockey Coaches Association East All-America second team. He is just the second All-American in the history of the Statesmen hockey program.
Gallagher finished the season with 23 points on five goals and 18 assists. He tied for the ECAC West lead in points by a defenseman and was 15th in the nation. Gallagher was Hobart’s lone first-team All-ECAC West selection this season. Defensively, he was a key component in the stingiest Statesmen team in Hobart history, allowing a single season record 2.61 goals per game. In 102 career games, Gallagher scored 14 goals and notched 50 assists for 64 points.
Hobart finished the season with a 20-8-0 overall record, the most wins for the Statesmen icers. Hobart earned the program’s second NCAA Tournament bid, defeating Norwich in the quarterfinals before falling in overtime to St. Norbert in the semifinals.
Gallagher and his classmates will graduate from Hobart as the all-time leaders in wins and winning percentage, recording a 63-32-11 mark (.646).
Goalie Adam Lavelle ’05 was Hobart’s first All-American after leading the Statesmen to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2004.
