GENEVA, N.Y.—The 11th-ranked Hobart College ice hockey team tied fourth-ranked Oswego 2-2 in overtime at The Cooler tonight. The draw brings Hobart’s overall record to 3-2-1, while the Lakers remain unbeaten and move to 8-0-2.

Oswego struck first on a power play, as sophomore Garren Reisweber (Williamsville, N.Y.) tallied in the fifth minute off assists from classmates Peter Magagna (Orangeville, Ontario) and Ryan Ellis (Georgetown, Ontario). The Lakers held Hobart scoreless for the rest of the first period, and took the 1-0 lead into the break.

The Statesmen evened the game at the 6:35 mark of the second period. Sophomore Jason Merritt (Chapel Hill, N.C.) netted his second goal in as many nights, assisted by classmate Andrew Brennan (Milford, Mass.).

Hobart broke the 1-1 tie just over six minutes into the third period, when senior Mike McCarthy (Medfield, Mass.) netted his second goal of the season off a pass from senior Adam Scott (Manchester, Mass.). Oswego answered with another power-play goal less than three minutes later, as Geisweber scored his second goal of the day. Sophomore Brendan McLaughlin (Brampton, Ontario) and Ellis recorded the assists.

Neither team scored in the overtime period, ending the game in a 2-2 tie. Sophomore goalkeeper Keith Longo (Hopedale, Mass.) tallied 42 saves for the Statesmen, while junior Ryan Scott (Williamsville, N.Y.) recorded 36 stops.

Hobart returns to the ice on Nov. 21 when it hosts Williams College for a non-league game at 7 p.m.
