Hobart earns ECAC West win at Elmira

ELMIRA, N.Y.--The Hobart College hockey team jumped out to a 3-0 lead and went on to defeat Elmira College 4-1 at the Murray Athletic Center tonight.
The Statesmen, who were 0-for-33 on the power play in their first three games, finally broke through in the first period against the Soaring Eagles (1-5-0, 0-3-0). Senior Conor Bradley (West Hartford, Conn.) ended the drought in the first period, giving Hobart (2-2-0, 1-2-0) a 1-0 lead.
In the second period, senior Mike Polsonetti (Lynn, Mass.) and junior Shawn Houde scored in succession to boost Hobart's advantage to 3-0. Elmira broke up the shut out bid before the end of the frame to head into the second intermission down 3-1.
Sophomore Andrew Brennan (Milford, Mass.) added another power-play goal in the third period to put the Statesmen back in front by three.
Sophomore goalie Keith Longo (Hopedale, Mass.) kicked away 35 Elmira shots in the win.
Hobart is back on the ice on Nov. 17, when the Statesmen host Wentworth at 7 p.m.
