Cibelli named RACA Athlete of the Week

GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College junior Brian Cibelli (Liverpool, N.Y.) was named the Rochester Area Colleges Athletics Co-Male Athlete of the Week today. Cibelli was named the Middlebury Holiday Classic’s most valuable player after leading the Statesmen to a second place finish in last weekend’s ice hockey tournament.

Cibelli scored two power-play goals, including the game-winner, and added an assist in Hobart’s 5-2 victory over Trinity (Conn.) in the first round of the classic. The next afternoon, he registered a goal and an assist as the Statesmen tied Middlebury 3-3 in the championship game.

Hobart (7-2-3, 2-2-1 ECAC West) is ranked 10th in the nation by USCHO.com. The Statesmen will return to The Cooler on Jan. 6 for a non-league game against Geneseo at 4 p.m. Fans unable to attend the game can listen live on WEOS-FM (89.7/90.3 in Geneva, 88.1 in Ithaca) or online at WEOS.org.
