GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College sophomore Jason Merritt (Chapel Hill, N.C.) was recognized by the ECAC West for his play in two league ice hockey games last weekend. Merritt was named to the Weekly Honor Roll after helping the Statesmen to a 1-0-1 record against Lebanon Valley College.

A forward, Merritt totaled two goals and an assist against the Flying Dutchmen. He netted the short-handed game-tying goal with 13 seconds left in regulation on Feb. 2, forcing overtime and preserving the 5-5 tie for Hobart. Merritt went on to tally again the next afternoon, recording his sixth goal of the season, before assisting on another in the Statesmen’s 5-4 win over LVC.

Hobart is currently ranked 12th in the country by USCHO.com, and holds an 11-5-5 overall record, 3-5-3 in league play. The Statesmen will host Elmira on Feb. 9 for an ECAC West contest in The Cooler at 7 p.m. Listen to the game live on WEOS-FM (89.7/90.3 in Geneva, 88.1 in Ithaca) or log on to web.hws.edu/statesmen/hockey/schedule.asp and click on the live coverage link.
