GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College hockey senior Mike Polsonetti (Lynn, Mass.) took home two prestigious awards at the 42nd Annual Block H Awards Banquet on April 30.

Polsonetti was honored with the William C. Stiles ’43 Memorial Award for his leadership, determination, and character, and was also presented with the Boswell Award for being the most valuable member of the hockey team. The team captain, Polsonetti was one of the top defensemen in the country. An All-ECAC West selection, he closed out his collegiate career with nine goals and 25 assists in 78 games, and guided the Statesmen to their fifth consecutive winning season with a 13-8-5 record. The Statesmen went unbeaten in non-conference play for the first time in the program’s history, and registered a record 13-game unbeaten streak.

Three of Polsonetti’s teammates were also honored. Senior Aaron Laycock (Barrie, Ontario) was recognized with the D. Michael Hazelton ’85 Memorial Award for being the most improved player of 2006-07. He played in 19 games this season, stepping up and becoming one of the top defensive forwards on the team. Laycock leaves the team with four career goals and three career assists.

Senior Adam Scott (Manchester, Mass.) was honored with the Holden Award, which is presented to a member of the team whose character, sportsmanship, and leadership have had a significant impact on the Hobart hockey program. Scott played in 75 career games and totaled seven goals and 11 assists.

Sophomore defenseman Bryant Harris (Plainfield, N.H.) was given the team’s Rookie Award. He bounced back this season after an injury sidelined him his first year, and became an integral part of the Hobart defense. Harris played in 25 games and tallied four points this winter.
