Roy departs for head coaching job
July 24 , 2007
GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College Assistant Hockey Coach Phil Roy recently accepted the head coaching job at Neumann College. A search for Roy’s replacement will begin immediately.
“Everyone here is very happy for Phil and his family and we wish them nothing but the best,” Hobart Head Coach Mark Taylor said. “He has been very much a part of the success we have enjoyed these past two seasons and his impact here will remain in the program. I’ve been fortunate to have had outstanding assistants during my time here at Hobart who have impacted the program and also made me a better coach. Phil is a quality person who is very good for our profession.”
During his two seasons in Geneva, Roy helped Taylor and the Statesmen to a 33-16-5 record, including the most successful season in the program’s history. In 2005-06, Hobart went 20-8-0, the only 20-win team in the history of the program, and reached the NCAA semifinals, a first for the Statesmen.
“I count my lucky stars to have had the opportunity to meet great people that helped me over the years,” Roy said. “I would like to thank Mark Taylor and the entire Hobart community for helping me prepare for this step in my journey.” |
