GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College Statesmen defeated SUNY Brockport 7-2 in non-league ice hockey action this afternoon at The Cooler. The Statesmen, in the midst of a program-record 12-game unbeaten streak, improve to 10-2-3 overall, while the Golden Eagles fall to 5-7-5.

Junior Shawn Houde (Manchester, N.H.) netted a hat-trick to lead the Statesmen. He scored his first two goals in the first five minutes of play, giving Hobart a quick 2-0 lead. Senior Jonathan Swift (Andover, Mass.) assisted on both, while sophomore Andrew Brennan (Milford, Mass.) and senior Conor Bradley (West Hartford, Conn.) each recorded helpers as well.

Sophomore Aaron Boyer (Calgary, Alberta) put the Golden Eagles on the board with a power-play goal at 6:12, assisted by junior Steve Seedhouse (Whitby, Ontario). Brockport junior Gordon Pritchard (Yorkton, Sask.) tied the game at 2-2 in the 12th minute, off a pass from classmate Chris Koras (Toronto, Ontario).

Hobart regained the lead for good following a goal by senior Aaron Laycock (Barrie, Ontario), which gave the Statesmen a 3-2 advantage heading into the first intermission. Sophomore Bryant Harris (Plainfield, N.H.) and senior Adam Scott (Manchester, Mass.) assisted.

Statesmen goalkeeper Dimitri Papaevagelou (Windham, N.H.) kept the Golden Eagles scoreless for the rest of the game, stopping every shot he faced in the final two periods. He finished with 36 saves, while junior Greg Van’t Hof (Toronto, Ontario) collected 21 saves for Brockport.

Bradley finished with a goal and two assists, while Scott totaled a goal and an assist, and Swift added three assists. First-year Blake Bonham (Toronto, Ontario) also tallied for the Statesmen in the third period.

The eighth-ranked Statesmen will return to the ice on Jan. 19 when they travel to top-ranked Manhattanville for the first of 10 ECAC West games in a row.
