November 19, 2001 GENEVA, N.Y.Three Hobart College hockey players were recognized by the Eastern College Athletic Conference for their play during a 2-0 week for the Statesmen. First-year forward Kevin Coakley (Tilton/Duxbury, Mass.) was named the ECAC West Rookie of the Week, while sophomore forward R.C. Schmidt (Army/Buxton, Maine) and first-year goalie Adam Lavelle (Bridgton Academy/Chelmsford, Mass.) earned spots on the Honor Roll. Coakley scored two goals and two assists for Hobart last week. The center scored two goals, including the game-winner, in the Statesmen's 4-1 win over SUNY-Fredonia on Nov. 15. He added two assists in Hobart's 7-3 drubbing of Curry College on Nov. 18. Coakley is tied for third on the team in scoring this season, with five goals and two assists for seven points. He has registered two points in each of his last three games. Schmidt scored three goals and two assists in the Statesmen's two wins last week. The wing scored Hobart's first goal against the Blue Devils and netted two goals and two assists against the Colonels. Schmidt leads the team in scoring with six goals and eight assists for 14 points. Lavelle stopped 80 of the 84 shots he faced last week. The first-year made 45 saves against Fredonia and 35 against Curry. Lavelle is 5-3-0 this season with a goals against average of 4.00 and a save percentage of .901. He has started every game for Hobart this season. The Statesmen (5-3-0) return to action on Nov. 20, when they travel to
Buffalo State for a 7 p.m., contest. Last season, Hobart defeated the
Bengals 7-1 on the road and tied them 5-5 in Geneva. |
