January 14, 2003 GENEVA, N.Y.Hobart College sophomores Craig Levey (Mississauga, Ontario) and Adam Lavelle (Chelmsford, Mass.) were both recognized by the Eastern College Athletic Conference for their strong play this past weekend, garnering CAC West Player of the Week and Co-Goaltender of the Week honors, respectively. This is Leveys first such award this season, while Lavelle has received goalie of the week honors twice before. Facing off against the Knights twice in two days, Levey led the team to a 1-0-1 weekend with a goal and two assists. In the first game he notched his sixth and seventh assists of the year to lead Hobart to a 3-2 overtime win. The following night the sophomore forward recorded his team-leading ninth goal of the season in the Statesmens 2-2 overtime tie. Lavelle continued his strong play between the pipes grabbing 44 saves on 48 shots for a .917 save percentage in Hobarts two overtime matches. In the Statesmens overtime victory, the sophomore goaltender made 24 saves allowing two goals, one of which was a penalty shot, to become only the third Hobart goalie to record at least 18 career wins. The next evening Lavelle denied the Knights 20 times earning his first career tie. For the season he sports a 2.93 goals against average with a .889 save percentage. Sporting an 8-6-1 overall record, Hobart is just two wins shy of matching last seasons total with 10 games left to play. The Statesmen are back in action on Jan. 17, when they travel to Brockport for a 7 p.m. faceoff. The following night, Jan. 18, Hobart will head to Fredonia for its third game of the year with the Blue Devils with the puck dropping at 7 p.m. |
