October 3, 2001 GENEVA, N.Y.The Hobart College hockey team is picked to finish fourth in the 2001-02 ECAC West Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Statesmen share the spot with first-year league member Utica College. RIT claimed the top spot again, followed by Manhattanville College, and Elmira College. Neumann College rounds out the poll in the sixth spot in its first year as a member of the ECAC West. Hobart, 6-15-4 overall last season, enters its second season under Head Coach Mark Taylor. Assistant Coach Jason Lammers joins Taylor this season after spending last year on Clarkson University's staff. Hobart enters the 2001-02 campaign with a hole to fill left by 15 graduating seniors, including the top seven scorers and all three goaltenders. Taylor's first recruiting class as a head coach joins a solid core of returning players as the Statesmen look to climb the ranks in an expanding ECAC West. Hobart opens the season at the Chase Tournament on Oct. 26, against SUNY-Geneseo
at RIT for a 4 p.m. contest. |
