Lavelle named ECAC West Goalie of the Week

December 10, 2001

GENEVA, N.Y.–Two Hobart College hockey players were recognized by Eastern College Athletic Conference for their standout play during a 1-1 week for the Statesmen. First-year Adam Lavelle (Bridgton Academy/Chelmsford, Mass.) was named the ECAC West Goalie of the Week, while sophomore forward Chris Doolan (Hill School/Lyndell, Pa.) was named to the league's Honor Roll.

Lavelle stopped 72 of the 76 shots he faced in two contests last week. He stopped 47 shots and allowed just two goals in the Statesmen's 3-0 loss to Lebanon Valley College. Lavelle closed the week with 25 saves in Hobart's dramatic 3-2 overtime win against Buffalo State, including nine stops in the third period. The goaltender raised his save percentage to .900 and lowered his goals against average to 3.87, both season bests. Lavelle has started every game for the Statesmen this season, posting a 6-6-0 record. He has made three appearances in the ECAC West Honor Roll this year.

Doolan scored the game-winning goal against the Bengals six seconds into overtime to snap a three-game skid. The sophomore is tied for second on the team in goals, with six, and fourth in scoring with nine points. Doolan needs just one more point to match his scoring total from last season.

Hobart (6-6-0) resumes play after a month long break on Jan. 5, at SUNY Geneseo at 7 p.m. The Statesmen will look to take the season series from the Ice Knights. Hobart defeated Geneseo 7-4 in the first round of the Rochester Hockey Cup on Oct. 26, and the Ice Knights won a 5-2 decision in Geneva on Nov. 28.
