December 10, 2003 GENEVA, N.Y.Hobart College junior Adam Lavelle (Chelmsford, Mass.) recently was named the ECAC West Hockey Goaltender of the Week after leading the Statesmen to a 1-1 weekend. This is the second time he has earned the weekly accolade. Lavelle added another record to his list, making 43 saves against eighth-ranked Manhattanville on Saturday to surpass Chris Connolly 01 as Hobarts all-time saves leader with 1,635. A three-year starter, he also holds the records for career wins (28), wins in a season (14), and saves in a season (795). In the first contest of the weekend, Lavelle pulled in 17 saves to help the Statesmen secure a crucial 4-3 league victory at Neumann College. The following night he was outstanding, stopping 43 of the Valiants 46 opportunities, holding the top scoring offense in the league two goals below its average in a 3-2 setback. The Statesmen are 4-3-2 overall and 2-1-1 for third place in the ECAC West. Hobart plays its final game of the year on Dec. 13, at Potsdam at 2 p.m. |
