February 27, 2002 GENEVA, N.Y. Two Hobart College hockey players were named to the ECAC West All-Rookie team. First-year forward Craig Levey (Mississauga Chargers/Mississauga, Ontario) and first-year goaltender Adam Lavelle (Bridgton Academy/Chelmsford, Mass.) represent the Statesmen among the leagues best newcomers. Lavelle started all but two games for Hobart this season posting a record of 10-13-0. His 10 wins are the most by a Statesmen goalie in a single season. In 1336:09 minutes, the goaltender has a goals against average of 3.91, a save percentage of .897, one shutout and made 756 saves, 22 shy of the Hobarts single season record. Lavelle was 5-3-0 against league opponents this season, matching the total of the leagues goaltender of the year, Elmiras Rob Ligas. Lavelle was the ECAC West Goaltender of the Week three times this season, second only to RITs Tyler Euverman (4), and twice more than Ligas. Levey was second on the team in scoring with 27 points, the most by a Statesmen first-year in five seasons. The forward leads the team in goals with 13 and is tied for the lead in power-play goals with six. In conference play, Levey led all rookies in scoring (8-6-14), led the league in power-play goals (5), and was second in power-play points (5-4-9) behind fellow Statesman R.C. Schmidt (Army/Buxton, Maine). Levey was named the ECAC West Rookie of the Week five times this season. Hobart (10-15-0, 5-5-0 ECAC West) returns to action in the ECAC West semifinals at RIT on March 1, at 7 p.m. The fourth-seeded Statesmen face the top-seeded Tigers (21-2-0, 9-1-0) for the fourth time this season and the fourth consecutive year in the playoffs. The winner will face either No. 2 Elmira College or No. 3 Manhattanville College in the championship at 7 p.m., on March 2.
