New face joins the Hobart hockey team

Matt Lindsay

September 11, 2002

GENEVA, N.Y. – Hobart College Head Ice Hockey Coach Mark Taylor recently hired Matt Lindsay as the new assistant hockey coach for the 2002-03 season. Lindsay comes to Hobart from Utica College where he served as the defensive bench coach. On the ice, he worked with the forwards, offensive team and situational play. He also supervised the strength and conditioning program for the athletes.

“I was impressed with the job Coach Hennan and Matt did at Utica last year, both on the ice and recruiting,” Taylor said. “I feel his move to Hobart will prove beneficial to Hobart and coach Lindsay’s career. I see Matt moving up the coaching ranks quickly.”

A native of Deerfield, Mass., Lindsay is a 2001 graduate of Williams College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in history. A four-year member of the Williams’ hockey team, Lindsay was the 2001 recipient of the William E. McCormick “Coaches” Award presented annually to the player who most demonstrates leadership, loyalty, and a love for the game of hockey.

In the fall and winter of 1997, Lindsay was a member of the New England Jr. Coyotes of the Eastern Junior Hockey League and the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League, respectively.
