GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart Lacrosse Head Coach Matt Kerwick ’90 announced that seniors Mike Conklin (West Genesee/Syracuse, N.Y.), Pat Meade (Schenectady/Schenectady, N.Y.), Matt Murphy (Haverford/Havertown, Pa.), and Andrew Narog (Lawrence Academy/North Wales, Pa.) will serve as team captains for the 2006 season.

“We are excited to announce our team captains,” Kerwick said. “Each one of them brings a great deal of experience and leadership to our team. I’m confident that this group will enable us to make another step toward greater success at the highest level of collegiate lacrosse.”Pat Meade

Conklin is a three-year starter on attack, who has finished in the top four in scoring in each of the past three seasons. The No. 2 returning scorer from last season, he recorded a career-high 26 points on 21 goals and five assists. Conklin sports 63 career goals and 11 career assists heading into his final season.

A midfielder, Meade has played in all 43 games over the past three seasons for Hobart, scoring 30 goals and assisting on six others, while collecting 112 ground balls. He scooped up a career-high 47 ground balls last season.

A three-year starter on close defense, Murphy sports 132 career ground balls entering his senior season. In addition to being a top-notch defender, he has shown a flair for offense, recording four career assists, including three last season. A standout in the classroom as well, Murphy was named to the 2003 and 2004 Patriot League All-Academic Team.

A long-stick midfielder, Narog was second on the team in ground balls with 62 last season. He was a key player in Hobart’s success at the faceoff X, as the Statesmen won nearly 58 percent of their restarts in 2005. In three seasons, Narog has 130 ground balls as well as a goal and an assist.

In 2005, Hobart completed its first season in the ECAC Lacrosse League with an overall record of 7-7 and a 2-4 mark in the conference. The Statesmen open the 2006 campaign against Bucknell at 1 p.m. on Feb. 25, at the Haverford School, in Haverford, Pa.
