GENEVA, N.Y.—Two Hobart lacrosse players have been selected to participate in the 2006 North-South Senior All-Star Game. Midfielder Patrick Meade (Schenectady/ Schenectady, N.Y.) and long-stick midfielder Andrew Narog (Lawrence Academy/North Wales, Pa.) raise the number of Statesmen selected to participate in the annual classic since 1940 to 102.

Villanova University will host the North-South Game, presented by the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) and STX Lacrosse, on May 26, at Villanova Stadium. The gates will open at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. start. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students.

One of four team captains this season, Meade played in all 14 games for Hobart, scoring 10 goals and assisting on seven more. He notched a season-high five points (2-3) and four ground balls in a 13-8 win over Ohio State and followed that up with a hat trick in a 14-8 win over Hartford. Meade scored the game-winning goal against St. John’s, the 700th win in the 104 seasons of Hobart lacrosse. He played in all 57 games over the past four seasons, recording 40 goals and 13 assists for 53 points, while collecting 129 ground balls.

Like Meade, Narog was a team captain and played in every game for the Statesmen during the past four seasons. He led Hobart and ranked 14th in the nation in ground balls this year, collecting 71, including a season-high nine at Rutgers. For his career, Narog scooped up 201 ground balls, the third highest total since the Statesmen moved to Division I in 1995.

Hobart finished the season with a 6-8 overall record. With their win over the Red Storm, the Statesmen became just the third collegiate lacrosse program to record 700 wins, joining Johns Hopkins and Syracuse universities.
