Nick Currie

April 3, 2006

GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart sophomore midfielder Nick Currie (Corning East/Corning, N.Y.) was named the ECAC Lacrosse League Co-Offensive Player of the Week by the conference office this afternoon. He scored five goals and assisted on a sixth in a 1-1 week for the Statesmen.

At Syracuse on March 28, he scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner, to help Hobart knock off then 13th-ranked Syracuse 9-8. The victory over the Orange was the first for the Statesmen since 1986, Hobart’s first ever over the Orange in the Dome, and the Statesmen’s first win at Syracuse since 1979. Four days later at Fairfield, Currie recorded three goals and an assist, while collecting a team-high five ground balls.

Through eight games, Currie is tied for the team lead in goals (11), second in man-up goals (2), and third in points (14).

Hobart (4-4, 0-3) is back in action on April 8, when the Statesmen host Penn State (4-3, 2-1) in an ECAC Lacrosse League match up. Faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Boswell Field. Fans unable to make it to the “Boz,” can follow all of the action online.
