GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart senior midfielder Patrick Meade (Schenectady/Schenectady, N.Y.) was one of three local student-athletes to share this week’s Rochester Area College Athletics (RACA) Male Athlete of the Week award. He led the Statesmen lacrosse team to a 13-8 win over Ohio State on March 4.
Meade broke open a 5-4 game with two consecutive goals before halftime. He also added a game-high three assists to lead Hobart with five points. Meade is one of three Statesmen with a team-high six points (2-4-6).
The win over the Buckeyes was the second in a row for the Statesmen over a team ranked in Inside Lacrosse’s preseason top-25. Hobart (2-0) opened the season with a 10-8 win over No. 25 Bucknell, before knocking off No. 21 OSU.
The Statesmen debuted at No. 19 in the first STX/USILA Coaches Poll this week. Hobart will play its home opener against the University of Hartford on March 11. Faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. on McCooey Field. Tickets are $5 for general admission, $1 for children under 12.
