Statesmen move up 2 spots in coaches poll

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College lacrosse team moved up two spots in the STX/USILA Coaches Poll this week. Following the Statesmen’s 14-8 win over Hartford on Saturday, the squad jumped up to No. 17.

Hobart is off to a 3-0 start for the second year in a row. The Statesmen rank second in the ECAC Lacrosse League in goals (12.3), and third in points (19.3), ground balls (34.7), man-down defense (.769), and goals against average (8.00).

Hobart has featured a balanced scoring effort this season that has seen 13 different players score goals. Senior midfielder Patrick Meade (Schenectady/Schenectady, N.Y.) sports a team-high nine points on five goals and four assists.

Defensively, senior goalie Mike DeSantis (Mountain Lakes/Mountain Lakes, N.J.) is tied for second in the ECAC with an 8.00 goals against average.

The Statesmen are back in action when they visit Binghamton. The Bearcats (2-1) are the top team among others receiving votes. Faceoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Binghamton East Middle School’s Alumni Field.
