December 13, 2006
GENEVA, N.Y.—Two Hobart College graduates recently were selected in the 2007 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Supplemental Draft. Chris Scanlon ’05 was taken in the third round by Rochester as the 26th overall pick, while former teammate Nate Hill ’05 was chosen in the sixth round as the 56th selection by Los Angeles. Scanlon and Hill played a major role in leading the Statesmen to a 2004 Patriot League title and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2002 and 2004.
A midfielder, Scanlon played 50 career games at Hobart. He recorded 46 career goals and 14 assists for 60 points, and collected 69 ground balls. Scanlon will play for the Rochester Rattlers again this year, after playing in eight games and tallying a goal and an assist last year. Scanlon will be one of many Hobart graduates that have played in Rochester, including Hill and David Cain ’00. The Rattlers posted a 5-7 overall mark in 2006.
Hill played 57 games for the Statesmen at attack. He ranks 10th on the all-time assist list with 79, and holds the 18th spot for career points with 143. He netted 64 goals and picked up 136 groundballs in his four years as a Statesman. Hill will join the Los Angeles Riptide’s roster after playing for Rochester in 2006, where he saw action in two games and recorded two assists. The 2007 season will be the Riptide’s second as a MLL team. Los Angeles debuted with a 6-6 overall record as one of four MLL expansion teams in the Western Division, which was created last year.
