GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College first-year attackman Kevin Curtin (Corcoran/Syracuse, N.Y.) was named the ECAC Lacrosse League Co-Rookie of the Week today by the conference office.

Curtin scored twice in the fourth quarter of Hobart’s 17-5 rout of Hartford on March 10. His second goal was a man-down tally, marking the first time a Statesman pulled off that feat since junior attackman Daryl Veltman (Salisbury School/Georgetown, Ontario) scored short-handed on March 28, 2006, at Syracuse.

Hobart leads the ECAC in goals (12.5/g), assists (7.75), points (20.25), ground balls (43.5), extra-man conversion (53.8%), and faceoff percentage (61.1%). The Statesmen attack of Veltman, junior Jamie Kirk (Salisbury School/Orangeville, Ontario), and sophomore Jeff Colburn (CNS/Liverpool, N.Y.) account for three of the league’s top four scorers. Veltman (15-3) and Kirk (4-14) share top honors, while Colburn (9-5) is fourth. Kirk, who was eighth in the nation in assists last season, has more helpers than any two players in the league combined.

The Statesmen are 2-2 and back in action today at 3 p.m., when they host Marist College. The first meeting between the two schools can be followed online.
