WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Hobart lacrosse team got five goals from junior midfielder Nick Currie, but it wasn't enough to upset seventh-ranked Georgetown this afternoon. The Hoyas got a five-goal performance from midfielder Dan D'Agnes in a 15-13 victory over the Statesmen.

Hobart (3-3, 0-1 ECAC) trailed 12-10 entering the fourth quarter, but Silver Spring, Md., native Chris David (2 gls) and Currie connected on back-to-back unassisted goals to tie the contest for the seventh and final time. Georgetown (4-1, 2-0) answered the surge with consecutive scores of its own by D'Agnes and Garrett Wilson to restore the two-goal lead with 9:05 remaining.

Junior attackman Daryl Veltman (3 gls) made it a 14-13 game at the 5:49 mark, depositing a feed from classmate Jamie Kirk, who recorded a game-high six assists.

D'Agnes put the Hoyas back in front by two with an extra-man goal at the 3:27 mark that closed out the day's scoring.

Hobart sophomore Jeff Colburn added two goals and an assist, while GU got significant contributions from Craig O'Dowd (4-1), Andrew Baird (2-2), and Andrew Brancaccio (2-0).

The Statesmen held a slim 38-37 advantage in shots, while Georgetown dominated ground balls (45-33) and faceoffs (21-10). GU faceoff specialist Christiaan Trunz (20 of 30 at the X) collected a game-high 12 ground balls, while long-stick midfielder Matt Ranaghan scooped up seven for Hobart.

The Statesmen converted on their lone extra-man opportunity, while Georgetown was 2-of-5 in man-up situations.

Hoya goalie Miles Kass earned the win with nine saves, while Brandon Baer stopped 10 for Hobart.

The Statesmen return home for their next contest, when they host Rutgers in another ECAC matchup on March 24. Faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Fans can follow along online by clicking on the live coverage link on the Hobart schedule page.
