QUEENS, N.Y.—The Hobart College lacrosse team dropped a 13-10 decision at St. John’s University this afternoon. With the loss, the Statesmen slip to 4-7 overall, 1-5 in the ECAC, while the Red Storm improves to 5-7, 2-4.

St. John’s was led by Tom Michaelsen’s three goals and two assists. Justin O’Donnell (3-1) and Tom Manes (2-2) both chipped in four-point efforts for the Red Storm.
Hobart led 9-8 at halftime but managed just one goal in the second half as St. John’s earned its first win over the Statesmen.
Hobart’s James Dussich scored the first goal of the game, marking the 11th time in a row the Statesmen have struck first. St. John’s answered two minutes later, setting off a scoring frenzy. Neither team led by more than a single goal during the first 30 minutes, as the two squads combined for 17 goals, the most in a half for either Hobart or St. John’s this year.
After the intermission, the Red Storm netted back-to-back goals to take a 10-9 lead. Currie’s final goal, set up by David, tied the game for the 10th and final time with 8:24 remaining in the third quarter. St. John’s started the fourth quarter with three goals in less than three minutes and then rode its defense to victory.
It was a tough day for the five goalies that were sent into the contest. Dan Goldberg and Dave Saccente combined for 10 saves in the win, while Max Silberlicht, Brandon Baer, and Brad Hester stopped 11 shots.
Hobart will play its final home contest of the season on April 24, when the Statesmen host Canisius under the lights of McCooey Field.
