GENEVA, N.Y.—Three Hobart College lacrosse players were honored by the ECAC Lacrosse League today. Junior attackman Jamie Kirk (Salisbury School/Orangeville, Ontario) was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Week, while first-year goalie Max Silberlicht (New Hartford/New Hartford, N.Y.) earned the Rookie of the Week award. First-year defenseman Adam Del Preore (Moorestown/Moorestown, N.J.) earned a spot on the League’s honor roll.

Kirk, who leads the nation in assists (3.5/g), took sole possession of the team lead in points with two goals and four assists against 17th-ranked Fairfield. His four helpers raised his season total to 28, more than any Division I Statesman in a single season. The previous standard was 26 established by Nate Hill ’05 in 16 games in 2004. Both of Kirk’s goals came in the fourth quarter, the last of which proved to be the game-winner.

In his first collegiate start, Silberlicht turned back 17 shots in an 11-10 upset of the Stags. His save total is the most by a Hobart goalie since March 29, 2005 (19 by Dan Valente ’05 vs. Syracuse). None of Silberlicht’s stops were more important than his last. He knocked down Fairfield’s last shot. The rebound rolled around in front of the cage and was poked at by a sea of sticks. Silberlicht covered the loose ball just before it crossed the goal line as the final horn sounded. His 17 saves are the most by a Statesman making his first collegiate start since Fred Pawlikowski ’98 stopped 17 in his first start on April 12, 1995, against Syracuse.

Del Preore was tasked with guarding Fairfield’s Mike Bocklet on Saturday. The first-year shutout Bocklet, who had scored at least a point in 19 consecutive games before coming to Geneva, the second longest active streak by an ECAC player. Del Preore, who also collected a ground ball in the contest, has played in seven games this season and is tied for the lead among his classmates with four starts.

Hobart (4-4, 1-2 ECAC) is back in action on April 7, when the Statesmen travel to Penn State for an ECAC showdown with the Nittany Lions. Faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. WEOS-FM (89.7/90.3 in Geneva, 88.1 in Ithaca). Internet coverage can be accessed by clicking on the live coverage link on the Hobart schedule page.
