Georgetown holds off Hobart 15-13

GENEVA, N.Y.—Several Hobart College lacrosse players are among the national leaders in the first NCAA Division I statistical rankings released today.
Junior attackmen Jamie Kirk (Salisbury School/Orangeville, Ontario) and Daryl Veltman (Salisbury School/Georgetown, Ontario) form one of the top scoring tandems in the nation. Kirk is second in assists per game (3.83), while Veltman is third in goals per game (3.33). They’re ranked seventh (4.5) and 11th (4.17), respectively, in points per game.
Sophomore midfielder Matt Smalley (Avon Old Farms/Cumberland, R.I.) and senior long-stick midfielder Matt Ranaghan (Cape Elizabeth/Cape Elizabeth, Maine) are eighth (6.17) and ninth (6.0), respectively, in ground balls per game.
At the X, junior Dan Spinella (New Hartford/New Hartford, N.Y.) is 15th with a .578 winning percentage on faceoffs.
As a team, the Statesmen are fourth in extra-man scoring (.559), seventh in scoring offense (12.17), 12th in scoring margin (+3.17), 14th in faceoff winning percentage (.559), and 18th in man-down defense (.750).
