April 1, 2002 CENTRAL VALLEY, Pa.—The Patriot League honored a pair of Hobart College lacrosse players this afternoon with its Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week Awards. Junior attackman John Bogosian (Kent School/Massena, N.Y.) and junior midfielder Tim Booth (Waterloo/Waterloo, N.Y.) earned the offensive and defensive accolades, respectively, in a 1-1 week for the Statesmen (4-3, 3-1 Patriot League). Bogosian was limited to one goal in a 19-4 loss at top-ranked Syracuse on Wednesday, but rebounded with a career-high five goals in a 12-11 home win over 20th-ranked Bucknell. Against the Bison, he scored a pair of first-half goals to keep the Statesmen within one, 5-4, at halftime. After the break, he scored twice more during a 6-0 Hobart run that gave the Statesmen their first lead of the second half, 11-7. Bogosian’s final goal of the afternoon at the 3:50 mark of the fourth quarter proved to be the game-winner. He leads the team in goals scored (15) and ranks second in points (20). He has scored at least a point in 19 consecutive games. Booth enjoyed an exceptional week at the faceoff X, winning nearly two-thirds of the restarts he took. At Syracuse, he was 12-of-21 on faceoffs, while collecting four ground balls. Against Bucknell, he won 15-of-20, including the pivotal restart with 23 seconds remaining and the Bison trailing by one. Booth also picked up a game-high nine ground balls. He leads the team in faceoffs won (72), faceoff winning percentage (.605), and ground balls (39). Hobart returns to action at 7 p.m., on April 3, when Colgate University visits Geneva in a Patriot League match up. An historic meeting, the game will mark the first night game played on the Hobart and William Smith Colleges campus.
