GENEVA, N.Y.—Waterloo native Tim Booth ’03 became the second former Hobart lacrosse player to be taken in the National Lacrosse League entry draft. The faceoff specialist was taken in the third round of Saturday’s draft by the Rochester Knighthawks with the 26th overall pick.

The NLL is the nation’s premier indoor lacrosse league. Founded in 1986 with four teams, the NLL now boasts 10 franchises from Anaheim to Philadelphia.

Booth completed his collegiate career with 40 goals, 17 assists, 255 ground balls, and a 459-354 faceoff record. A two-time first-team All-Patriot League selection, he helped Hobart to Patriot League Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2000 and 2002. As a senior, Booth scored a career-high 22 points (17-5), while winning 146 of 261 faceoffs and collecting a team-high 75 ground balls. He finished the season 12th in the nation in ground balls per game and 19th in faceoff winning percentage.

Earlier this year, Booth became the first Hobart player taken in the Major League Lacrosse entry draft. He was taken with the second pick in the fifth round (26th overall) by the Rochester Rattlers. Booth was the Rattlers top faceoff man this season, winning 117 of 227 restarts, while scoring five goals.

The MLL is an outdoor league with six franchises.

The first Hobart player drafted by an NLL team was Jamie Breslin ’01, an eighth round pick of the Knighthawks in 2001. Former Statesman Bill Warder ’96 also played for Rochester, signing with the club as a free agent in 2002.
