February 8, 2002

GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College lacrosse first-year Head Coach Matt Kerwick ’90 recently announced the captains for the 2002 season. Seniors Scott Harvey and Nick Musso and junior Tim Booth were chosen to lead the Statesmen through their 100th season.

“We are excited to announce Tim, Scott, and Nick as the 2002 captains,” Kerwick said. “All three men represent the ideals of Hobart lacrosse: character, leadership, and persistence.

“They have worked hard throughout the course of the year in the classroom, in the weight room, and on the field. I am confident they will lead the way for the Statesmen this spring.”

A senior attackman from Suffern, Harvey has 16 career goals and five career assists for 21 points. He enjoyed his most successful season in 2000 when he finished seventh on the team in scoring with 15 points.

A senior midfielder from Auburn, Musso played in four games last season after transferring from Herkimer Community College. At Herkimer, he served the Generals as a captain in 2000, while scoring 38 points (20-18).

A junior midfielder from Waterloo, Booth led Hobart in ground balls (55) and faceoff percentage last season. He won 96 of the 157 faceoffs he took in 2001 for a .611 success rate that ranked 10th best in the nation. In two seasons, Booth has accumulated 10 goals, seven assists, 93 ground balls, and a .540 faceoff percentage (167-of-309).Hobart finished the 2001 season with a 5-7 overall record, and finished second in the Patriot League with a 5-1 mark. The Statesmen return 25 letter winners, including six starters, from that squad.

The Statesmen open the 2002 season at sixth-ranked Maryland on Feb. 23. Hobart last tangled with the Terrapins during the 1995 season. Hobart returns to Geneva for its home opener on March 2, against Vermont. The Statesmen also have home dates with No. 7 Georgetown, No. 15 Cornell, No. 16 Penn State, and No. 19 Bucknell.
