December 20, 2002 GENEVA, N.Y.Hobart College Lacrosse Head Coach Matt Kerwick 90 recently announced the Statesmens captains for the 2003 season. Seniors John Bogosian (Kent School/Massena, N.Y.), Tim Booth (Waterloo/Waterloo, N.Y.), and Mike Borsz (West Genesee/Camillus, N.Y.) were selected by their teammates to lead Hobart this season. Bogosian, who was named to the All-Patriot League teams in each of the past two seasons, is one pace to become just the second Division I Statesman to score 100 career points (55-34-89). The attackman led the team in scoring in 2002 with 29 goals and eight assists. Bogosian also led Hobart in scoring in 2001 with 24 goals and 24 assists. Booth, who also served as a team captain last season, is the Statesmens top faceoff man. Over the past three seasons, hes compiled a record of 313-240 (.566) on restarts, while collecting 25 goals, 10 assists, and 180 ground balls. A 2002 first-team All-Patriot League selection, Booth ranked ninth in the nation in faceoff percentage (.598, 146-244) and 11th in ground balls (6.2/g). A two-year starter, Borsz earned second-team All-Patriot League honors last season in goal. Through three seasons, he boasts a .543 save percentage and 337 saves, which rank fifth on Hobarts career list. Borsz was twice named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week last season. The Statesmen enter their 101st season fresh off of their 24th NCAA Tournament appearance and their second Patriot League Championship since 2000. Hobart returns 25 letterwinners and seven starters from 2002s 6-8 squad, including 71 percent of the teams scoring. The Statesmen open the season on Feb. 23, against Butler University in Baltimore, Md. Faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m., at Johns Hopkins Universitys Homewood Field.
